The Huge Animals the Size of Peas.

Well…that title made no sense. (Jk. Of course it did. All of my titles make sense, except maybe Magical Mangos (Wait…What?)

Meet the insanely weird deepsea ostracod Gigantocypris. It is the largest ostracod in the world and it’s the size of a pea. It loves to attack deepsea copepods (Copepoda) and small fish. Gigantocypris is a relatively small genus consisting of just six species:

• G. dracontovalis (Cannon, 1940)
• G. danae (Poulsen, 1962)
• G. australis (Poulsen, 1962)
• G. muelleri (Skogsberg, 1920)
• G. pellucida (G. W. Müller, 1895)
• G. agassizii (G. W. Müller, 1895)

A lot of people are convinced this creature is “cute:”
NOTE: Kawaii desu ne? (かわいい です ね) is Japanese for “Is it cute?”

They would be right.
