A Tiny World

Welcome to the minuscule world of the Dujardin’s moss piglet (Macrobiotus dujardini), also known as the dujardini tardigrade, Dujardini’s hypsibius, and the Dujardin’s water bear. This microscopic animal is distributed all over the world and has such a cute name, it’s hard to believe.

Dujardin’s moss piglets are so tiny that if you step on them, they don’t get squished. The only difference between them and actual pigs is the fact that moss piglets are small and have eight legs. Otherwise, same thing. Moss piglets even roll in the mud.

Which is scarily adorable!
